The 3 Peaks Route

I confess I have been very lazy in terms of posting on my blog. Please accept my apologies. I don’t come up with explanations or excuses πŸ™‚

Let me tell you, I had a busy and good time, in terms of life, business and running.

During August and September I was able to keep a nice weekly routine going and ended with 244 km for August and 239 for September.

Currently, as of October 9th 2014, I completed 121 running sessions and 8 races. The latest race was the helpers run (for people helping on race day) for the Gun Run half marathon, which is the signature race of my running club AAC Atlantic Athletic Club.

This totals to 2,119.4 km to date.

I also had to keep the momentum going since I got very lucky. At least all running friends will regard this as luck – since I got an entry to the very limited (max 150 people) running event called “3 Peaks Challenge” which takes place in Cape Town, on November 1st.

The name sounds challenging, and it is. It covers 3 peaks (Devil’s Peak, Table Mountain and Signal Hill), with in total some 3000 m elevation and some 50 km in distance. It is going to be the first trail race I am taking part in πŸ™‚

Since I have not been up on Devil’s Peak yet, I need to learn the route, which will happen with the support of a running mate from AAC this week.

Stay tuned…

Update (31.10.14)Β  – here you can find how the preparation went:

First run up Devil’s Peak

Two peaks in one go (Devil’s Peak and Platteklip Gorge/Table Mountain)

The third peak (running up Lion’s Head)

I made a little video about the race:
