After 9 days without running, I could not wait for this day to come: The International Friendship Run on the day before the Two Oceans Ultra takes place.
I love this run in general, because it’s a nice way to get the muscles moving and calm down the race nervousnes 🙂 while meeting some 1,000 runners from all around the world for an easy 6 km run between the V&A Waterfront, Mouille Point and the Stadium.
This year it was a special run. My test run.
Were my 9 days of resting and 3 Aquajogging sessions the solution to cure my injury?
I am relieved. Big time!
I felt perfect. The foot is back at 100%. Yippieh.
Another question: How did I cope with the 9 days without running?
Usually such a long break makes the first 2 runs after the break hard. Often I feel as if someone would be holding me back.
Not this time! I believe the Aquajogging was the best option for me to keep the muscles going.
Therefore: I feel very good now and I am going for a Sub 5. It will be tough, since it might get too warm, but I will give it a go!
And now some nice pictures taken at the IFR International Friendship Run of the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon 2014. Thanks to Andrew Shepherd from Beyond the Finish, who made several of these nice pictures.
