This year’s training strategy is way less stressful than last year, where I did many very fast (for me) intervall sessions.

I focus more on consistency at a pace of 20 – 45 sec slower than Two Oceans Ultra race pace (which will be 5:10 min/km).

January I ran two races, the 30 km Bay to Bay and the very hilly Red Hill Marathon in a very good time of 3h 45min while I was saving my energy.

In total I completed 16 runs (including 2 races) and covered 301.1 km for the month.

I ran at least one session of 30 km or more per week (1x 42.2 km, 1x 40.5 km, 3x 30+).

So far, I am in a very good mood looking forward to the upcoming sessions. Fingers crossed for an injury free season 🙂
